"Most Officers Reach Excellence Every Single Day"

Below is the transcript of a five minute video that David Clarke, former Milwaukee County Sheriff, recorded after his "interview" with CNN's Don Lemon.

"Cops are not perfect.


That’s not a news flash. But this might be: They don’t have to be perfect. They have to be excellent."

For over 39 years, I was a police officer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For 15 of those years, I was the Sheriff of Milwaukee County. I’ve done everything you can do as cop—from walking the beat, to investigating murder, to running the agency. I’ve met a lot of cops—of every race, ethnicity and background.

Here’s what I can tell you:

Cops are not perfect.

That’s not a news flash. But this might be: They don’t have to be perfect. They have to be excellent.

And most officers reach excellence every single day, and often under very difficult circumstances—circumstances you can’t imagine, and wouldn’t want to if you could.

Perfection is an unattainable goal. Cops are ordinary human beings. Like everyone else—lawyers, surgeons and baseball players—they make mistakes. But no profession works harder to correct its mistakes. You can mark social progress by the improvements made by police departments over the last 50 years. Today, police are more professional, better educated, and better trained than at any time in their history.

You wouldn’t know it, though, if you listened to self-serving, self-righteous politicians and activists. In their version of history, the police are the villains of the story, not its heroes. Like everything else this crowd does, they’ve got it all backwards.

The police aren’t the problem. The politicians and activists are.

The police didn’t create the failed urban policies that have locked people into generational poverty.

The police aren’t responsible for fatherless homes, failing schools, and bad lifestyle choices.

And they sure as hell aren’t responsible for the lack of respect shown to police officers. It is this lack of respect for authority, fostered over decades by the progressive left and its fear-the-police narrative, that has led to the needless deaths of so many young black men.

When Officer Darren Wilson told Michael Brown to get out of the middle of the street in Ferguson, Missouri, did Brown comply? No. When officers in Baltimore told Freddie Gray to stop resisting arrest, did he comply? No. When officers in New York City told Eric Garner to stop resisting arrest, did he comply? No.

Here’s a useful tip—if you want avoid a bad outcome with a police officer, follow this simple rule:

When a cop gives you a lawful command, obey it—even if you disagree. Whatever problem you are experiencing is not going to be settled on the street. People with complaints need to use the process established for that purpose. Though cops don’t have the final say, they do in that moment. How you react can be a matter of life or death.

But the idea that a law-abiding citizen has to fear the police is a terrible and destructive lie. Let’s get some perspective.

In 2014, 990 people were killed in police use-of-force incidents. Does that sound like a lot? Did you know that, according to a Johns Hopkins study, that same year, medical errors killed 250,000 people? Yet activists aren’t marching in the streets, demanding that the medical profession be reformed. Why not?

Why is it that the people who protect you from the bad guys—and I’ve seen these bad guys close up—are the subject of distrust and anger?

Why is it that groups like Black Lives Matter—I call them Black Lies Matter because it’s based on the falsehood that police represent a danger to black people—are celebrated by the media and politicians?

All this is taking its toll on cops and, even more tragically, on the law-abiding citizens in the neighborhoods that most need a strong police presence. The murder rates in these neighborhoods are going up because lawful, aggressive policing is going down.

Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute has explained why. She calls it “The Ferguson Effect.” And it’s real. It’s also common sense. Why, police officers reason, put your career at risk, if 30 seconds of smartphone video taken out of context can destroy it?

Here’s the truth: Police aren’t afraid of walking the streets or being shot by random criminals. They’re afraid of being involved in an incident that would label them forever as trigger-happy racists.

Are there bad cops? I know first-hand that there are—I’ve had to fire them.

But the overwhelming majority are good, decent men and women, concerned about the law-abiding citizens in the communities they serve and are willing to put their lives on the line to protect them.

Those who try to convince you, either out of ignorance or out of some ideological agenda, that the police are the enemy—those are the people you should fear.

Run from them.

Not the cops.

Antisemitism and the Victimhood of Looting Thugs

Which begs the question: How does one manage a huge property, in four-season West Virginia (Winter snow, Fall leaves, Spring rains, and Summer growths)?

In my last post on the series of posts I've don on the VDare non-reporting on the devastation that the fake COVID has done on the US economy, I wrote on VDare author's Sailer's June 4 post: Cristalnacht in the Fairfax District:
It begs the question: Was the VDare group, realizing that eventually the fake virus would unleash societal upheavals, cleverly deducing that it would become a racial blowup, where blacks would feel even more "oppressed," while whites, even the poor whites, appear to be doing that (little) much better?
I wrote, on Sailer's comment in that article: "The Fairfax neighborhood in West Hollywood, CA is known both for its elderly Jewish population":
As always, the VDare group has some wrong end of the stick. And it usually involves blacks. And a subservient, under-the-radar acknowledgment of Jewish "victimhood." Who exactly finances VDare's big enterprises - e.g.: Their Castle on the Virginia Hills? And who has the deepest, and strongest, vested interest in destroying Christianity?
Sailer is not letting off his Jewish-link, i.e. antisemtic, theory, as an update on his June 4 post.

In his latest article on June 5 at VDare: More on Cristalnacht in West Hollywood, Sailer quotes from Jerusalem Post's June 3 article, Jewish business owners describe vandalism, looting of businesses in LA.

In that article, Jewish business owners describe the vandalism and looting of businesses in LA:
Rosenfeld described the scene late Saturday night with people driving down the Fairfax district streets screaming, “effing Jews,” at them.
Notice that this is the generic "people." Were they whites, Hispanics, blacks? How many? A whole Dionysian mob?

Is it the "antifa" which is effing the Jews?

Well, here is some information:
Israeli-born philanthropist and activist Adam Milstein...said: “The rioters are antifa and Black Lives Matter and they are inherently antisemitic.”
Why anti-semitic? Because they ransacked some stores? No, because:
"...synagogues got tagged and Jewish businesses were looted with [signs saying] ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘Kill the Jews,’ [which] is not a coincidence. The rioters are antifa and Black Lives Matter and they are inherently antisemitic.”
So who at VDare really cares about the fate of blacks, those hundreds of thousands of blacks, who are at at the same mercy, (and even worse), as are whites, of the vicious hands of these hired gun thugs who are rampaging through America's cities?

But Jews are leftists, and "activists," in one form or another, and explains Jonathan Friedman:
....who owns Syd’s Pharmacy, also in the Fairfax area, he’s unclear if he was targeted because he is Jewish or if it’s because looters were after narcotics – all of which were taken from his store.

“It’s frustrating,” he added. “We had no part in this. They had no reason to involve us. I understand the [protesters’] cause. They’re actually right. Someone was murdered and they’re right, but I don’t see where myself and other businesses, that were suffering with corona, have the extra $3,000 to cover the deductible for their insurance, fit into this whole thing.”
Syd "understands" these thug looters, who are victims, don't you know. There can be some excuse for antisemites.

America-Destroying Entities

Once again, it is revealing that the "America" websites and bloggers like VDare ("We inform the fight to keep America American") and the Canadian Faith Goldy ("For Christ the King & Country") do not address the issue of the sabotaged blacks, whose criminal members are the front men for larger America-destroying entities.

VDare continues with its vicious "portraits" of black thugs, which ordinary blacks do not support in any manner, and who are in fact, as this black woman points out, its primary victims (pregnant women - think about that).

There is no attempt by VDare et al., and Faith Goldy, who has regular video posts on Vdare, to delve into the underlying causes of black thuggery. E.g., who exactly is it that funds the "movement?" How do other blacks, and especially the poorest (pregnant women living alone!), fare under the fear of this black underworld of crime and murder?

(Note: see in the comments a reader’s correction of my speculation that the poor, talented students of which the Times is speaking are primarily blacks.)

But if, as the Times reports, these students do not even know of the existence of better colleges in America, and they have absolutely no aspiration to attend any schools that are outside their local area, how smart and talented could they be? They appear to have very small horizongs and little knowledge of and little curiosity in the world. Don’t very smart people tend to have large horizons?. My guess is that the Times is doing its usual rationalizations for the intellectual and other deficiencies of blacks. I did not read the entire article,but I’d say that it’s fair possibility that it ends up asserting that these students are culturally and geographically isolated by racial discrimination and by the lack of special federal programs that inform them of the existence of better schools. The eternal top-priority project and moral obligation of Liberal America (America 2.0)—at unlimited cost in societal effort, taxpayers’ money, and orchestrated white guilt—is to render blacks in general as functional as whites in general. And that will never happen. And no one who makes his living in mainstream America dare say it..

I saw from Steve Sailer’s post on the same article that the low-income, high-aptitude cohort under discussion is 69 percent white and 15 percent Asian. So the large majority of the kids at issue are white.

Thanks for the correction. But I wonder if that information was in the Times article (which, again, I didn’t read the whole of and was only making a reasonable speculation on, based on past Timesean behavor), or only in the Sailer post.
Daniel F. replies:
The racial breakdown is in the NY Times article itself, about midway through. I suspect that Sailer is right that the problem is really with white kids, since channels are in place to whisk whatever (relatively) high-aptitude black kids make it through high school (most of whom are female) into elite colleges. Such kids are in extremely high demand, as I’m sure you know. By contrast, the powers that be could not care less about smart white kids from lower middle class or working class backgrounds. [LA replies: That all makes sense, and is not surprising. But it’s still fascinating. By the way, like Mr. Spock, I never say, “Fascinating” ironically, which people often think I do, because such behavior is now so common. I never (well, hardly ever) give a compliment ironically, which, again, has become a common behavior in our increasingly cynical and nihilist age.]

I’m amazed that you are able to do as much as you are still doing with the site. Your will power is amazing. May your pain be moderated and may you continue to make good use of your time with us, however you see fit.

Interestingly, Deuteronomy 28, in which God alternatively presents the blessings and miseries he will deliver to the children of Israel depending on whether they follow or don’t follow his ways, is the source of the quote that I used at the end of my speech, “Multiculturalism and the War against White America,” at the first American Renaissance conference in May 1994.

I said:
In Deuteronomy, Chapter 28, God pronounces the curse that will fall on the people of Israel if they fail to follow God’s law:
“Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, while your eyes look on and fail with longing for them all the day; and it shall not be in the power of your hand to prevent it. A nation which you have not known shall eat up the fruit of your ground and of all your labors; and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually; so that you shall be driven mad by the sight which your eyes shall see.”

Unless America wakes up to the threat of demographic and cultural dispossession, and finds the will to resist it, the curse pronounced in Deuteronomy awaits us all.

I agree with what you said in the initial entry. Whether they be white or black, how intelligent can these young people be if they are so provincial? I grew up in Brooklyn and Queens and I remember as a teenager there were a couple of kids I knew who had never been over the bridge to Manhattan. Imagine that! They lived a mere three to five miles away from the world’s most famous and celebrated city, and they had never been over the bridge nor had their parents taken them.

I went to high school in “the provinces” (Phoenix) but not in a low-income family. Just the opposite—I attended an expensive private school. Many of my classmates attended highly selective and prestigious universities. Yet an appreciable number of them attended the local, low-prestige school (Arizona State). These people had certainly heard of high-prestige schools back East, knew people who attended them, and could afford them, but chose not to attend these schools themselves. The problem was not lack of intelligence, knowledge or money, but motivation. Some of them didn’t want to be geographically far from their parents, others just didn’t know what they wanted to do with their lives. If this problem exists at the higher end of the income spectrum, I imagine it is even more prevalent at the lower end. The article notes, “Low-income students who excel in high school often do not graduate from the less selective colleges they attend”—which indicates to me that the problem is indeed motivation, not brains. You can graduate from high school on autopilot because all your choices are made for you and then wind up floundering in college because there are too many choices.

Thus the idea that these low-income kids in the Times article are “not really” smart and talented may be wide of the mark. I suspect that the system will make a special effort to seek out and attempt to inspire unmotivated black kids, and will be more likely to let unmotivated white kids fall through the cracks. (“If you don’t take advantage of your White Privilege, we have no sympathy for you!”)

This is very interesting and has the ring of truth.
Your observations remind me of someone I know. He is highly intelligent and extremely articulate. He writes like an angel. He is cultivated, being deeply knowledgeable about such fields as classical music and opera.

When he told me that he had never attended college, I was, frankly, gobsmacked, meaning that I was astounded to the utmost degree of astonishment.

He was graduated from high school in a Midwestern state in the mid-1970s. Now if I heard the same story from a person who went to high school in the 1930s or early ’40s, I would not have been astounded, because before the postwar period, as we learned from the Part One of The Bell Curve, before the postwar period people with high IQ were scattered throughout every walk of life in this country; but after the war the American system of education began pushing cognitively able young people into college and the professions, especially via the SATs, which had been deliberately designed to search out the cognitively talented who previously had not gone to college.

So how did it happen that he did not attend college, and how did it happen that he spoke so well and wrote so well without have gone to college? I had never met a person lacking a college education who expressed himself so well, with a perfect command of English usage and grammar. (And readers know how fussy I am about that—I am the man who will sit up in my coffin at my funeral and correct the pastor on a grammatical mistake!)

First, he had not had any intellectual or academic interests when he was in high school. He was into crafts, athleticism, things like that. The thought of college had simply never occurred to him. Second—and this part still astounds me—not a single adult in his life, whether his parents, his teachers, or his school advisors, had ever talked to him about the idea of his going to college. He had not even taken the SATs.

Second, as for his marked intellectual abilities and accomplishments, he only acquired intellectual interests in his twenties. He must have read a great deal, and developed on his own his excellent writing abilities.

I don’t know what general lessons this story offers, as it is in my knowledge atypical, indeed, unique. I’ve told it because I find it so interesting, and because it shows a unique individual.

Bianca Stigter: Sinner

In my previous post "The Obama Effect": "Depicting Slavery as a Horror Show" I wrote about the black director of the recently released film, 12 Years Running:
...what a disgusting human being this director is, and how pathetic people are to allow themselves to be manipulated by him not just in this film, but in other guilt-filled and exaggerated, and often false, depictions of the lives of blacks as slaves.
What is actually more shocking than the shock effects of this director is that he's married to a white woman! But he's not actually married to her, although they have a daughter and a son together. She is addressed as his "longtime partner" in various sources. She is referred to as a "cultural critic" and is apparently Dutch. Here is a referral to a Bianca Stigter, placing her in Amsterdam, with a photograph of a girl/boy that very closely resembles the photograph of the girl above. And according to a 2010 New York Times article, McQueen left England for Holland in 1996. It makes sense that he settled down in super-liberal Holland, with a "partner" who is a "cultural critic" who probably advocates that all "culture" is good, and that honesty in art is the most important thing - i.e. that an artist should show all the sex, violence, horror, and demonism he thinks is necessary to get his artistic "message" across. And marriage is unecessary, in their world of "free" love

How does this "partner" reconcile her husband's hate for whites (that is what it boils down to) with his with his partnership with her, a white woman? What does their partnership consist of? How do they discuss his film projects?

Male Partner: I have this idea for a film.
Female Partner: Oh, that's great!
Male Partner: It is about slavery.
Female: I'm sure you'll have a lot to say about that.
Male: Well, it's about the evil whites who loved every minute of humiliating their slaves.
Female: Oh, yes...
Male: I'll add a lot of beautiful cinematography, to accentuate the evil.
Female: OK. Mmmm. I'm sure you'll do a great job.

Stigter's cultural criticism includes works such as:

Gold from Straw: The Human Body as an Adventure which is a book about:
Gold from straw is a book about people are in straitjackets and about people who are burst out brilliantly, about people who adhere to standards, or people who paint. Everyone is born with a body, but virtually no one is satisfied. In this book, there are stories about women who want to be men, about robots who want to be human, pigs that talk and elephants who listen to music. [I constructed this English translation of the synopsis from various online translations]
And a book she co-wrote titled Fransje Killaars, where she does reach out to Third World, or at least to the non-white of the world, as she reviews the works fellow Dutch textile "artist" Fransje Killaars, who makes "installations" of textiles she reproduces based on Indian carpets and rugs.

Stigter was the one who gave the book 12 years running to her husband, probably suggesting that it could be made into a film. She is the ideal, white wife (or partner, in this case) for this black man. She subjugates herself, and her race, in expiation for all those sins she has been told, and will continue to be told, she has performed in the name of her white superiority and inherent desire to harm blacks. It is an exorcism that she needs, and part of that involves endlessly seeing, reading and discussing this great sin. And her exorcist, to her great luck, is her "partner."

"The Obama Effect": "Depicting Slavery as a Horror Show"

I watched (more on that later) a movie this past week: 12 Years a Slave.

The film, which is presented as a true story, revolves around a freed slave, who gets kidnapped and sold back as a slave. This site meticulously separates truth from fiction on slavery.

But, this movie reviewer questions the truth behind the extreme, vicious, brutality in the film:
Brutality, violence and misery get confused with history in 12 Years a Slave, British director Steve McQueen’s adaptation of the 1853 American slave narrative by Solomon Northup, who claims that in 1841, away from his home in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., he was kidnapped and taken South where he was sold into hellish servitude and dehumanizing cruelty.

For McQueen, cruelty is the juicy-arty part; it continues the filmmaker’s interest in sado-masochistic display, highlighted in his previous features Hunger and Shame. Brutality is McQueen’s forte. As with his fine-arts background, McQueen’s films resemble museum installations: the stories are always abstracted into a series of shocking, unsettling events. With Northup (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor), McQueen chronicles the conscious sufferance of unrelenting physical and psychological pain...

Depicting slavery as a horror show, McQueen has made the most unpleasant American movie since William Friedkin’s1973 The Exorcist. That’s right, 12 Years a Slave belongs to the torture porn genre with Hostel, The Human Centipede and the Saw franchise but it is being sold (and mistaken) as part of the recent spate of movies that pretend “a conversation about race.” The only conversation this film inspires would contain howls of discomfort.
The astute writer then places this film in the context of the Obama presidency:
...12 Years a Slave appears at an opportune moment when film culture - five years into the Obama administration - indulges stories about Black victimization such as Precious, The Help, The Butler, Fruitvale Station and Blue Caprice. (What promoter Harvey Weinstein has called “The Obama Effect.”) This is not part of social or historical enlightenment - the too-knowing race-hustlers behind 12 Years a Slave, screenwriter John Ridley and historical advisor Henry Louis Gates, are not above profiting from the misfortunes of African-American history as part of their own career advancement.
I've written about the nihilistic, dreary, and ugly film Precious here, and commented on The Butler here, comparing it to Precious.

And in an even better observation, the above writer describes 12 years a Slave as "an inhumane analysis" and compares it with:
...the cross-sectional cut-up of a horse in Damien Hirst’s infamous 1996 museum installation “Some Comfort Gained From the Acceptance of the Inherent Lies in Everything.”
While searching for McQueen's biography, I discovered that he is a black man, from Britain. He received the Turner Prize in 1999, a post-modern, nihilistic "art" prize (Damien Hirst received his in 1995 for Mother and Child Divided). McQueen's prize was for his video installations, one titled Drumroll, which consists of images generated:
...by rolling a metal oil drum through the streets of midtown Manhattan, with cameras mounted on the side and two ends.
And another titled Deadpan, which is a:
...restaging of a Buster Keaton stunt in which a house collapses around McQueen, who is left unscathed because he is standing where there is a missing window.
Several elements combined to make this horror film, and for it to succeed in the box office, around Christmas, no less!
- Obama's anti-white, accusatory governorship
- White guilt, which pushes people to sit masochistically through the film
- Blacks, who bring slavery back, in a relentlessly unforgiving manner, despite the
many reformations that have been made to improve their lives, post-slavery
- Nihilistic art, and the various encouraging institutions like the Turner Prize and the Tate Gallery which award such artists with the highest accolades
- And black artists like McQueen, of this Obama-Age, who, using the art education they received from white institutions (and which they couldn't have received in any other kind of institution), portray whites as evil in a relentless and vicious manner.
I shut my eyes through most of the film. I would have normally walked out, but I went to the movie with some other people. I could hear the grunts and moans of the audience as it was plied with one atrocious image after another. I closed my eyes when the black freed slave, who was later kidnapped, was caught, hanged and lynched.

I tried to find a shot of this scene, but it is available nowhere on the internet. It is too terrible to view, as the director and his many aides well knew. I was caught in those few seconds of horror. Perhaps it is a good thing that I saw it (I think I was meant to see it), in order to realize with anger what a disgusting human being this director is, and how pathetic people are to allow themselves to be manipulated by him not just in this film, but in other guilt-filled and exaggerated, and often false, depictions of the lives of blacks as slaves.

McQueen's other feature films are:
- Hunger (2008), which this film reviewer describes as:
British video artist-turned-director Steve McQueen imbued this vision of the 1981 IRA hunger strike with such a potent visceral sense...that watching it is truly a corporeal endurance test of stark immediacy...McQueen’s efforts carries a profoundly haunting, disturbing, and ultimately revealing insight into the politics of the body, told through a symphony of blood, shit, and urine.
- Shame (2011), a film about sexual addiction (and possibly incest)

Horror shown through a relentless aesthetic lens, particularly showing human suffering and degradation, is to be McQueen's demonic vision.

I suspect more such horrors will be presented to us in the near future, in art, politics and other media by McQueen and his ilk. If we can brace ourselves now, we will be in a better position to fight back later on this "Obama Effect."

Paula Deen: Guilty Until Proven Innocent for the Crime of the Century

Paula Deen, the "Southern cook" is in a lot of trouble. She committed the Crime of the Century. She used the n-word. I am sure this was not in malice, as her apology videos repeatedly show. I think it is a traditional Southern thing, where the word simply means black, although with the connotation of a "black gone bad," as white trash, a term used both by blacks and whites, is for whites gone bad. In fact, nigger is used freely by blacks, who use it "endearingly" for a fellow black, usually of a lower class, and who may be involved in some kind of criminal behavior. Blacks have a whole hierarchy of words to classify each other by. They have a clear understanding of each other's limitations.

I think Deen also used the word to point out the limitation of these "nigger" blacks around her, yet towards whom she still feels paternal (or maternal, in her case). She feels close enough to blacks to call them out (by using the word nigger) on behaviors they could improve. I think she still lives psychologically in the Gone With the Wind era, where black slaves were affectionately, and paternalistically, taken care of by their white owners, and punished (some harshly and cruelly) when they breached these social expectations. And the slaves understood these contracts, and took affectionate care of their masters, as Mammy did of the rebellious Scarlett.

Deen says something similar:
Back then [when she was younger], black folk were such integral part of our lives, they were like our family, and for that reason, we didn't see ourselves as being prejudiced.
Blacks were generally grateful towards whites, not for some crumbs they received, but for the protective and familial way in which they were mostly treated. Now, what we have is begrudging, relentlessly accusatory, deeply dissatisfied black Americans, who have reaped the benefits of white America, and yet who are never satisfied, and will at every opportunity point a finger at whites.

I think that whites still feel have a protective attitude towards blacks, to keep them out of trouble, and to keep them American, which means following the rules and leadership of whites as their fellow countrymen, and the contracts of the country. Yet, blacks no longer have this affectionate, familial attitude towards whites. In fact 99% of blacks now think that whites are out to harm them, and they will always be vigilant and hostile towards whites.

But, it is still whites who are the arbitrators of justice for blacks. It is whites who are causing the demise of Deen's businesses, where major retailers are closing their doors on Deen's products for her "racist" behavior.

According to The Examiner:
Sears, Kmart, Walgreens and J.C. Penney are the latest retailers to end their business relationships with Paula Deen. In addition, Ballantine Books just called off a lucrative five-book deal. That makes a total of 11 business partners who have now distanced themselves from the controversial cook.
These partners included Target, Walmart, Novo Nordisk (a diabetes drug maker), The Food Network, QVC, Caesars Entertainment Corp (of casinos), Smithfield (which specializes in hams and pork products), and Home Depot.

And it is the news media, run and controlled by a white majority, which are demanding that she make a national apology for her behavior.

Now, the interesting thing here is that whites are once again protecting blacks! From the evils of the Crime of the Century - Racism. Paula Deen, in her candid way, spoke up about blacks and hurt their feelings. That's all she did: she didn't kill anyone; she didn't destroy any black's home or businesses; she didn't yell in public obscenities against blacks. She just used words to describe the black person in a way that is no longer acceptable to the do-gooder, black-saving whites of the twenty-first century version.

So, there it is: both parties (the "For Deen" and the "Against Deen") are protecting the ever-vulnerable blacks to this day.

Deen is making the apology circuit, after she posted her own apology videos on Youtube. The first Youtube video shows a confident, yet penitent Deen. I watched the second video with fascination, and a little horrified. She was disheveled and rambling. The last I could bear to watch is her Today Show interview with Matt Lauer on June 26. Deen sits like a reprimanded child next to the pinched-nosed, finger-pointing Lauer, who glares at her.

Is this what the modern world is making of its icons? There is no doubt that Deen was admired by many. Some may have even idolized her. Now, she has been reduced into an incoherent mess. To have a full society land on you like that must be devastating, especially after it had you on a pedestal for so long. I've never watched her full cooking show, but whenever I saw her, I liked her confidence. She seemed like a friendly, talented, enterprising Southern woman who was running a many-faceted business.

Like all celebrity women, her private life is a mess. She divorced her first husband in 1989 after twenty-four years of marriage. She married again in 2004. But her family photos (with both husbands, her sibling, and her two sons) show a jovial, happy woman, who may be running a food conglomerate, but who is still sociable and approachable.

Does he have the face of evil, as some would like to paint him?


So this what a white woman is reduced to in a culture that idolizes blacks. She may not fully realize what happened to her, or find a way to respond to all those "allegations," but people are watching, and especially white people. The idiots like Lauer will forever hold their indignant glare, but others will realize the demonization that is taking place, and will react to a country that is holding them guilty without any chance of showing their innocence.

Publishers are cancelling the publication of her new book, saying that it is a business decision:
When Walmart, Target and J. C. Penney all announced they are discontinuing their Paula Deen business, including books, it is awfully tough to stay the course of a publication. It was a business decision...
But ordinary white Americans brought her other cookbooks up to the #1 spot on Amazon.com after Deen hit the prime time news these past few weeks.

Mainstream publishers and retailers may be dropping her books and products, but her supporters will find new ways to promote her work, and continue her franchises. This may take time, and it may include much smaller venues. It looks like America may indeed eventually follow Lawrence Auster's idea of separation:
Those who identify with the former American nation and still want to be part of an American nation must separate themselves from the leftist USA and create new communities and new political expressions suitable for Americans. Until such communities are created, the separation can only be mental and spiritual. But that is the necessary starting point.
