Bowing to the Ancestors And Killing Eve

I tuned into the Golden Globes yesterday, not for the awards but for what the awardees would do and say. At one time, I would tune in to watch the fashion, but it is no longer so interesting. What has happened is that all these "equality now" "feminists" are hypocrites. They parade around in ten-thousand-dollar ball gowns by star designers as they mouth out their #MeToo proclamations. I can learn about fashion by going to my local department store and reading my monthly Elle.

I wasn't disappointed.

The most fascinating was Sandra Oh.

Sandra Oh in Killing Eve

She is currently starring in a television production called Killing Eve. Just the name of the series alone is disconcerting. Everyone, even the non-Christians, know that Eve is the name given to Adam's mate in the Genesis account. Eve of course betrays Adam and disobeys God with her complicity with the serpent.

God never killed Eve, but rather he banished her, along wth her foolish conspirator Adam, to life outside of paradise, a life of hardship, nothing like the life they led in His Holy Garden.

What exactly is Killing Eve and what is Oh doing in it?
Killing Eve follows the intertwining lives of two women – Eve (Sandra Oh), a quick-witted but bored MI5 security services operative whose desk job conflicts with her ambitions of being a spy, and Villanelle (Jodie Comer), a polished, highly skilled killer-for-hire, who enjoys the rich benefits that come from her violent career. As the two fiercely intelligent women go head to head, they become equally obsessed and entangled with one another in a combination of brutal mischief making, sharp humour, and high-stakes action. [Source: Bravo.ca]
Since I haven't watched nor plan to watch this latest installment in evil TV programming, I will reference a viewer who wrote:
Not dramatic or thrilling. I thought after Sandra Oh was nominated for an Emmy that this show would be worth watching. Not the case. The plot started out Ok but quickly went downhill. The production was awful. Comedic for no good reason. Horrible soundtrack of hip and rock music for no good reason. Lesbian love scenes for no good reason. Sandra Oh as a sorta-spy in non-Asian countries-totally stupid. The script was just horrible. Every character is over the top for no good reason. The only things good about this show were the location scenes. Otherwise. It's a dud and a total waste of time waiting for it to "get good." And the ending?? Ugh. Just a ploy to make another boring season. I think this show must have been created to find a way to use Sandra Oh. Keep looking! She's a very tired looking spy. Not at all compelling or interesting in this genre. Seems that only France, Israel, the Uk, and the Nordic Noir folks can make dramatic and thrilling spy/crime/political shows that keep you on the edge of your seat. [From: bjnordin-828-626007 commenting on IMBD]
And another:
There is no message, no meaning this a l'art pour l'art thing. Except romanticizing senseless human suffering and bloodshed is in no way an original, exciting or even acceptable form or art. If this were a satire, some black comedy that would be entirely different but the show is just too serious to be perceived as such. Humour here is just part of the makers' plot to try and manipulate the viewers' sense of ethics and decency into seeing monstrosity when mixed with aesthetics as something cool. Well it's not. [From: gabor_nb]
And another:
People wake up screaming at the top of their lungs. Targets of low budget assassinations ask "Why me?" and the star of the show says "I don't know." Shock for the sake of shock.

This show is about vapid, soul-less, sickening characters, and the cynical concept that if there is nothing to show, the audience will try to figure out the mystery. The joke here is that there is nothing behind the curtain. The characters have no human values. Pointless cruelty and death are the focus of this show. Killing Eve is degrading to the human spirit. This is just crass and trash.

The main writer for this show said that they do not do backgrounds for each character. That is lazy writing. This is an incredibly awful series about characters that nobody should care about, and stupid situations that end badly.[From: Johnny_West]
And another:
Men begging for their lives. men brutally murdered. men are stupid and amount to nothing. this series is a feminist wetdream. btw, the assassin isnt psychotic, she is a mary sue [From battever]
And what is a "mary sue?"
Mary Sue is a negative term used in fanfiction and literary criticism to describe an original character that is often overly idealized or assumed to be a projection of the author. When used by a male author, the character is referred to as a Gary Stu or Marty Stu. [From: Know Your Meme]
And another definition of a "mary sue:"
‘Mary Sue’ protagonist are hotly debated. What can be agreed is that it started its life in fan fiction circles, where it was used to suggest that a protagonist was a thinly veiled version of the author, allowing them to insert an idealized self into the story. [From: Standout Books]
That captures Oh perfectly, and especially her performance at the Globes last night.

Firstly Oh is the one "killing Eve," the Western, Christian Biblical female. She usurps God's role to do it for Him, but with a particular reference to her own non-Christian, non-Western background.

All non-Westerners are now openly antagonistic towards Western culture, and whites. They of course are led by the traitorous whites themselves who hate their own people, their own culture, and their own country. The parasites are from within. And non-Western immigrants and the children of these non-Western immigrants born within these Western shores are simply following this lead. If whites were not so intent on destroying themselves, these others wouldn't have the cracks in the system to enter and continue with the havoc (or the agenda).

One powerful and fundamental way to destroy destroy Western Civilization is by destroying Christianity.

"We (non-Christians, non-Westerners) will destroy the myths and stories that built Western society, and lets start with the first female herself.

We like Eve because she disobeyed God. But she didn't go far enough. She is still part of that legend. We have to remove her entirely, by showcasing her violent nature which we can use to our advantage for her to wreck more havoc.

We will kill her off and install our own gods and goddesses, but with her spirit in mind, her betrayal.

We will kill Eve to resurrect her with our own image."

Forget Oh's "#MeToo" moment, and her "look at us now in all these hues and colors" rhetoric while receiving the golden award. She doesn't really care about feminism (that western-produced ideology), nor about multiculturalism, nor really about other cultures other than their usefulness to her agenda. She was married to white man after all, that race she purports to disdain. But marrying white still pays dividends for an immigrant's offspring, and she seems to date only white men. She has bigger agenda, a bigger mission, a bigger world to conquer. She wants to rid of the whites, the true enemy.

Divorced from director Alexander Payne (m.2003, d. 2006)

Boyfriend, Indie Musician Andrew Featherston in 2007

Current boyfriend, Russian immigrant (came as a child to the US) artist Lev Rukhin

And finally, she can establish her own Korea-Away-Form-Korea land, where she can bow to her parents and her gods with impunity. And where she can be more Korean than even her own Catholic parents, which is exactly what her parents desired, and subtly instilled in her when they packed their bags and came to Canada: "Our Children will not forget our ancestors, our ways."

Welcome to a glimpse at the Brave New World of America and Canada.

where you’re fully grounded within yourself, of “finding that authentic kernel.

Sex With Creatures: Getting Closer to the Luciferian Agenda

Forget all the hypocrisy of the Oscars with stars wearing million-dollar dazzling jewellry as they stand on stage talking for the underdog in the movement de l'epoque: "equality."

Forget motherly Meryl who points her index finger with a "you can do better" over-her-reading-glasses look at her proteges.

Forget jovial Owen, standing as clueless as his "alright, alright, alright" moment when things were clearly not all right, especially for his blonde and not-so-rosy future.

Forget black directors and actors (and actresses, to revive a discarded word) who pump their black fists at racist Hollywood as they spend their days (and nights) with white "partners."

Forget the gothic stage looking like Satan's boudoir shimmering from the sparkles of a million Swarovski crystals.

What everyone missed is how a movie about intercourse between a human female and an alien creature made it with "Best Picture" Oscar.

This is not a "first" of course. Others have done it and with some popular success. But none have won a "Best Actor" Oscar, and most have an element of comedy in their theme.

Del Toro is dead serious.

I scoured the internet to see what commentators had to say about this epic first in popular movie history, but no-one, nowhere, in the Main Stream Media™ mentions it.

But that is because Del Toro camouflages this collaboration with Satan with the "equality now," "Time's Up," "Me Too" and all those other slogans that have been circulating through the elite crowd for a couple of years now.

Says Del Toro about his move:
"Much like fairy tales, there are two facets of horror. One is pro-institution, which is the most reprehensible type of fairy tale: Don't wander into the woods, and always obey your parents. The other type of fairy tale is completely anarchic and antiestablishment."
So there you have it.

Intercourse with a monster is a "Me Too" moment.

Here is commentary on the film by Paul Bois:
The values governing "The Shape of Water" are best summed up as follows: have sex with anything you want, even if that "thing" is not of your species, and kill innocent people to do it . . . Fin!

That the film presents this in the guise of a tale about how love conquers all in the face of white male patriarchal oppression makes it all the more insidious.
The whole article is succinctly written. Still there is an element of awe and ominousness that is missing. Bois thinks this is just another Disney movie as his article's title The Shape Of Water’ Review: An Adult Disney Movie With A Wickedly Perverse Heart "warns" us.

Bois could have written a similar commentary for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (remember that one?), the true Disney alien movie, although without a wickedly perverse heart, which won four Oscars, the same number as The Shape of Water:

E.T.'s four Academy Awards:
- Best Original Score
- Best Sound
- Best Sound Effects Editing
- Best Visual Effects

One would think that The Shape of Water would have the Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Visual Effects prizes. After all it was a sci-fi film, at least the copulation part.

The Shape of Water's four Academy Awards:
Best Picture
Best Director
Best Production Design
Best Original Score

What is Production Design?
Production Design...focuses on the creative process of visually and physically developing an environment that becomes an essential component of the storytelling process. Production Designers must possess a keen understanding of the story in order to create a believable and realistic world on screen.[Source]
Yes, recreating that monster, and his copulation scenes, must have taken a lot of creative talent! Although to be fair, it is also creating the environment where such a story can be plausible. Well the Hollywood/Oscar crowd certainly bought it.

This Hollywood style pornographic horror film is rated "R" (Restricted): Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent Or Adult Guardian, - imagine an "under 17" watching this in the dark theatre! - whereas it should should have received an "NC-17" (Adults Only) - No One 17 and Under Admitted.

E.T. on the other hand, with its benign alien befriending a young girl (although I wouldn't put it past its team for infusing barely detectable scenes of sexual allusion) was given a PG and fairly so, rather the G (General Audiences):
PG - Parental Guidance Suggested
Some material may not be suitable for children. Parents urged to give "parental guidance". May contain some material parents might not like for their young children.

We have come a long way from (or closer to the luciferian agenda) a 1982 "alien befriends a young girl" to the 2018 "alien fornicates with a young woman."

And I'm not the only one to think so. See here and here.

The Power of Woman Saving the World in Haute Couture

Nicole Kidman is coiffed and made up by a backstage team of who knows how many so that she can come out onto the Golden Globes stage looking like this.

So tells us this Nicole fan, inadvertently hitting the mark with Kidman's fairy dress. The Time's Out black has channeled darker forces where women stand with uplifted fists in flimsy glittering dresses to attack men and society. It only takes one (male) engineer to turn off those lights at the Globes and render Kidman aflutter. Imagine going to war dressed like a fairy!

The Australian actress gave us a sneak preview of Clare Waight Keller’s debut Spring 2018 Haute Couture collection for Givenchy, wearing a bewitching black gown.

"Wow. The Power of women! Huh!" Nicole mumbles as she accepts her globe

The dress is a Givenchy custom made gown whose price tag is off the charts. No ordinary "Time Outer" could ever in her dreams afford wear a dress like this.

And her accessories are:
Fred Leighton [jewelry], including Art Deco diamond earrings set in platinum; an Art Deco emerald, diamond and black enamel bangle; a 6.10-carat Art Deco old European diamond ring set in platinum; and an Art Deco diamond and platinum ring.
It's Time's Out with a six-figure wardrobe.

Here's a rundown of her hair helmet and makeup war paint:

- Her hair is that now popular manufactured disheveled look promoted by couture coiffeurs
- Cream or moisturizer on the skin
- Primer for her face to "prime" or prepare the skin and allow makeup to stay longer on the skin so it doesn't run in the heat of the spotlight
- Concealer to cover any dark shadows around her eyes or dark spots on her skin
- A foundation base to even out any flaws on her skin
- A highlighter cream to add glow to her face, especially around the cheekbones
- A rose-colored rouge to give her cheeks a youthful blush
- Eye-shadow primer to prepare the lids and lets the shadow stay longer on the lids so it doesn't run in the heat of the spotlight
- Baby blue eye-shadow to bring out her eyes
- Silver glitter eye-shadow on the corners and the top of her lids to make her eyes sparkle
- A pre-mascara treatment for her lashes to protect them from the mascara
- Black waterproof mascara
- False eyelashes, or lash extensions
- Lip "plumper" cream for fuller lips
- "Primer" for the lips to prevent lipstick (or lip gloss) from "flaring out" or from fading
- A lip liner slightly darker than the lipstick or gloss to contour the lips again to prevent lipstick (or lip gloss) from "flaring out"
- Lipstick sightly lighter that the liner applied to the lips using a lip brush
- Lip gloss slightly paler than the Lipstick to add a shimmer to her lips
- And the whole face is sprayed with a makeup setting spray

That's it!

But nothing must be overdone. We don't want her looking like those old, spent Hollywood under cakes makeup, who get called "legends" before they're even dead.

And of course the mandatory black nail polish, with at least a layer of top coating plus two layers of polish to make sure the goth polish stays on and no nail chips off.

Our fashion commentators elaborate:
The dress blackout thing worked out really well for Miss Nicole – at least, from our perspective, since we’ve spent years telling her (i.e., impotently ranting at her image) that she’s one of those rare birds who really come to life when she’s wearing black. Give her a little shimmer and sparkle, a little ruffle and romanticism; render it all in Disney-Witch Black and she never fails to look stunning. We understand why she wouldn’t want to step out in black every time she steps out, but we sure wish she’d stay in the darker end of the spectrum when making her public style choices, instead of defaulting to the washed-out, tea-stained romantic looks she tends to favor more often than not.

At first, we found all the foofaraw on the back a little distracting and silly, but once we decided they were fairy wings, we decided we loved it. Sparkle on, Goth Tinker Bell.
I don't think it is any accident that fairy dust and black goth are the theme this year as these women declared that black was their dress code.

There is a nefarious force creeping its way upward into our world ready, to capture and manipulate any anomalies. Fake News rapes and Woman Power are the perfect ruse to destabilize our world and Godly order to let the serpent in.

The globe has what is actually a reel of film looping around it in a sinewy curve. It is a snake with its head peering at the top. If we wait any longer, we might see its tongue flickering at us. Those Eves in black have already fallen for its charm.

And here is the the perfect man for the Modern Abused Hollywood Warrior Woman:

More on the Creep Harvey Weinstein

Of course the pathetic actresses also whored themselves to this man are also to blame. Who lets any "unknown" man into one's room?

From James Perloff's tweet.

Feminists are the biggest cry-babies. When the going gets tough they scream "RAPE!!!!!"

Well the sad part is that these neophyte Hollywood actresses are hardly feminists. They are simply stooges, manipulated by bitter, hard-hearted, anti-men women who are mostly lesbians or lesbian-wanna-bes.

"For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always"

John 12:3-8
Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
Luke 6:20-21
Then he looked up at his disciples and said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Left: Sarah Jessica Parker promoting her perfume Lovely in 2005
Right: Existential drama at the 2017 Golden Globes, soon after the election of Donlud Trump

Mary Magdalene anointed Jesus' feet with expensive perfume to worship him and adore him. Sarah Jessica Parker brands her perfumes as part of her name and uses this fame to promote government dependency by America's poor.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sarah Jessica Parker used to look pretty, and even lovey at times. Above left is a photo of her in 2005 with her perfume "Lovely," and then in the photo on the right at the 2017 Global Globe awards. By 2017, she is looking up as though searching for some vampire-god's guidance with her blackened nails and elongated claws for eyelashes. Why the existential drama?

Well the immediate answer is that she is "shocked" by the election of Donald Trump. Here is her emotional rollercoaster of a reaction over Trump's election:
"I am shocked by what has happened. I’m devastated by…I’m sad..."
That partly explains her appearance: sad/shocked/devastated and trying to put on a happy face.

SJP is wearing a wedding gown for the GG's, with no hint or irony. Except that this is a mangled and ripped gown touted as the latest design by that divorced wedding gown designer Vera Wang.

Vera Wang: Fall 2017 - Dracula's Bride

She is wearing her SJP Shoe Collection heels, having moved up the ranks to a shoe designer. They are a rather tame "spaghetti strap" heels, carefully hidden by the trailing cut-out gown, since they don't fit the vampire theme of the dress. SJP has always been about pretty, which is why she cannot display her black nails and grey eyeshadow with a genuinely happy face.

SJP Shoe Collection: Westminster Metallic Sandals

SJP clearly does not believe in marriage. At least the formal traditional kind.

SJP, a rich Hollywoodian hypocritically "supports" the poor as she lives a lavish, luxurious and indulgent life. She talks about her life in poverty as a young child and her family being on welfare for much of her childhood. She talks of having to get a "welfare ticket" for a free lunch while in the third grade in a Cincinnati school. More information on her family background shows that her mother divorced SJP's father when Sarah was only a year old and remarried a year later to a Paul Forste. Parker's mother seemed attracted to men with unstable financial prospects. Stephen Parker was an "aspiring writer." Paul Forste was a "theater student" who also worked as a truck driver when he came to live with Parker's mother, bringing with him his five children making the household child count to eight. The family lived off the "theatre student" Forste's truck driver salary and what Barbara brought in on her teacher's wages.

It is never pleasant to criticize someone's poverty. How much of her mother's bad choices led to Parker's difficult childhood? But her enterprising mother managed to find some way out of this poverty by enrolling her children in various entertainment productions. By 1977, at age eleven, Parker had a role in the Broadway musical Annie. By 1979, she had nabbed the lead role. And the rest is history (including briefly dating John F. Kennedy)

Parker is now an advocate for welfare, albeit indirectly, through her vigorous support of Obama and all his failed government policies. She is the epitome of a limousine liberal but one who should know better thus making her a hypocrite. It wasn't the free lunches that catapulted her into the ranks of Hollywood's elite, but her mother's savviness and a little of her own talent.

She now keeps making her films, and concocts more perfumes (she's got about four by now although none as good as the first one). I used to be a fan of hers in her Sex and the City days, which, to its credit, was uncomfortably inhibited with its "sex" part. Kim Cattrall, the sexpot in the series, always performed her scenes as though she were in a rush for them to be over. The prudence was possibly due to SJP (she is a prude).

Her latest media promotion for which she attended the GG's is for a television series called Divorce. Her painful experience with her parents' split when she was a young child seems to have made her wiser, making sure her marriage stays intact. She has been married to Matthew Broderick for twenty-five years now.
“What I do on screen doesn’t cross the placenta, do you know what I mean?”
[SJP in an interview with People Magazine in NYC for at the HBO premier series for Divorce]
That is the hypocrisy of the contemporary liberal elite. They make sure their own heterosexual marriages stay intact, and a surprising number are intact albeit many are in long-standing second marriages, or married after several years of "cohabitation." Look at for example Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, Meryl Streep and her non-movie star husband (she's the smartest of them all), Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. But everyone else's marriage is up for grabs of freedom: freedom to leave a husband in pursuit of a career; freedom to choose the gender (or non-gender) of one's "partner;" freedom to have children; freedom to adopt a Chinese orphan. SJP sees herself as the spokeswomyn for the common womyn who reconfigures life to suit her agenda and ideology. SJP hasn't gained an iota of wisdom, or empathy, from the difficult, and sad, life of her own parents' failed marriages.

SJP never adopted a Chinese infant, as is the trend amongst these multimillionaire actresses. She has one son with her husband, whom she bore late in life (at 35). And she couldn't leave it at that. Instead, her youngest two children are through a surrogate. Imagine telling your children they have another "mother" out there somewhere.

The "Lovely" woman has become the epitome of the narcissistic Hollywood actress.

40K/plate fundraiser for Obama and his wife in 2012

SJP held a fundraiser for Obama in 2012 in her multi-million Greenwich Village brownstone home and introduced him and his wife thus:
"It is a great, a rare, a very special and I’m assuming a singular treat to welcome you into our home – our radiant, our extraordinary first lady...[and the] beloved current and future president of the United States.”
SJP is mum about her now retiring president, whom she helped to re-elect for a second term, and the state of affairs in America after his presidency.

The Poor, Discomfited George Clooney

The usually debonair George Clooney looks discomfitted, here with his new wife, Amal Alamuddin

I wonder why?

Here's the scoop on her, from last March 2014 (I collected these from a variety of sources - there may be more to add):

- She’s Druze, which is an offshoot of Islam.

- She is defending Julian Assange, of the Wikileaks fame in his extradition case with Sweden

- Her mother, Baria, is a foreign affairs editor at Al Hayat, a Lebanese newspaper

- She attended NYU School of Law

- After graduation, she joined the New York firm Sullivan & Cromwell, where she worked for three years before moving to London

- She clerked for Sonia Sotomayor when the future Supreme Court justice was a judge at the US Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, which covers New York

- She's worked as an adviser to the UN Special Envoy, Kofi Annan, on Syria

- She has been been Counsel to the inquiry launched on the use of drones in counter-terrorism

- She's the legal advisor to the King of Bahrain

- Sh has written on international criminal law

- She has edited a book entitled The Law and Practice of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon

- At the Doughty Street barristers' chambers, she represented Yulia Tymoshenko, the former Ukrainian Prime Minister

- She represented Abdullah Al Senussi, former Libyan intelligence chief and Muamar Gaddafi’s right-hand man in a case of alleged crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court

Alamuddin with Julian Assange

Clooney looks peaked and stressed. I don't think it is the new life as a married man, as the new life as a man married to Alamuddin. I wonder what they talk about? The terrible United States, with all those war criminals? The wonderful Middle East, blighted and maligned by the West?

Alamuddin looks like she's close to her family. Family dinners must be something special. Debbie Schlussel writes this about her experience with the family:
Over the past few months, actor George Clooney’s been photographed all over the place with Amal Alamuddin, a very anti-Israel Lebanese Arab who worked for the United Nations and represented Wikileaks’ anti-American former chief, Julian Assange. The Lebanese legal book she authored is extremely anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian. Alamuddin, who was Clooney’s date to the Obama White House last month, is not Muslim. I’m familiar with Ms. Alamuddin (pronounced “Ah-lah-muh-DEEN”) and her family because I met her and them at the wedding of her cousin in the mid-1990s. They are extremely anti-Israel, and I was subjected to their absurd, non-stop anti-Israel questions and comments as the only non-Arab (other than the bride and her family) at a dinner the night before the wedding.

I went to law school with Alamuddin’s cousin (who has the same last name) and the cousin’s wife. I was friends with the cousin’s wife (who is not an Arab), and when they were dating in law school, I repeatedly heard from him about how he hated Israel and sided with the Palestinians and the P.L.O. Later, when I was invited to the the Alamuddin wedding, I was on the receiving end of more of that. As I noted, I was the only non-Arab at the pre-wedding dinner at Chicago’s now-defunct “Uncle Tonoose” restaurant. They all knew I was Jewish, and the conversations and questions directed at me were a mix of myself as both Jewish museum exhibit and target of anti-Israel questioning. Clooney’s future girlfriend was there, too, and she was in her late teens at the time (I was in my mid-20s).

The situation with the Alamuddin family was surreal, as I was asked repeatedly about “Jewish Europeans” “invading” Israel, er . . . “Palestine.”
Clooney, I think, is in over his head. His Druze-lawyer-anti-Israeli wife will be nothing but a handful. What a stupid man.

And one strange thing. He wore the same suit he wore to his wedding at the Golden Globes. Yes he was there for Golden Globes' lifetime achievement award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, but doesn't that warrant its own "special" suit?

This is the confident and debonair Clooney of a couple of years ago.

Reclaiming Religion from the Left

Moses and parting of the Red Sea, from Cecil B. Demille's The Ten Commandments

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This post is about the abuse of the message and festivities of the Seder. This year, the White House also "celebrated" the Seder. This year, it is really a repeat of three years ago, where I posted about President Obama's Seder dinner at the White House "after his dismal treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu during his recent visit to the United States."

Obama is no closer friend of Israel, God's and the Bible's Israel. And the Israeli leaders who accept his blatant hostility, occasionally camouflaged with friendliness, haven't learnt anything from the great lessons of the Bible.

[Commentary on the 1956 Cecil B. DeMille film The Ten Commandments, which was also screened this Easter Saturday, March 31, 2013]

Two television networks showcased Cecil B. DeMille’s epic 3 ½ hour The Ten Commandments this Easter: ABC and Canada’s CBC. The 1956 film had no need for our 21st century Computer Generated Imagery to convince us that the Red Sea was indeed parting, and that the “bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed” (Exodus 3:2). I wondered if the networks made this choice because there is really no superlative modern narrative of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection? We have Mel Gibson’s The Passion of Christ, but its gore and blood is too hard to take at Easter. The Last Temptation of Christ by Martin Scorsese is too idiosyncratic, and would be something to watch and study at another time in the year. There are plenty of bland and insipid made-for-television versions of Christ’s story, many of which are programmed during Christmas, but for some reason they were not screened this Easter.

Perhaps these channels chose to commemorate Passover rather than Easter, which fell around similar dates this year. Or they’re simply following the ritual of politically correct inclusiveness. Even President Obama has made Passover Seder-at-the-White House a new tradition, hosting it for the second time as President. No other President before him has hosted the Seder at the White House. Obama’s Seder started on a whim, it seems. During his campaign trail, two young Jewish aides were celebrating their Seder in a basement of a Pittsburgh hotel, away from home and family, when Obama joined their festivities.

Obama’s interest in Jewish celebrations may indeed be a liberal’s outreach to cultural diversity – after all, the White House now hosts Ramadan dinners. But, it fits his narcissistic personality, conforming the Seder to any situation he may be experiencing at the time of the holiday. At the first, impromptu, Seder in Pennsylvania when his campaign was steeped in the Reverend Wright controversies and was “in the desert,” as another campaign aide put it, Obama proclaimed “Next year at the White House” as an addition to “Next Year in Jerusalem” commonly said at the end of the dinner. Perhaps, as suggests Judi Kantor from the New York Times, this year’s focus could have been one of the universalist themes that Obama is so fond of: to free Americans from the bondage of capitalist healthcare and to give them the abundance of Obamacare.

The Center for American Progress has another suggestion. In it’s article on Obama’s Seder celebration this year, CAP cleverly used the Bible’s New Revised Standard Version to quote from Exodus 22:21: “You shall not wrong or oppress a resident alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.” Almost all the other versions use “stranger”, “foreigner” or “sojourner” in lieu of “resident alien,” clearly portraying a temporary dweller and not the long-term inhabitant that “resident alien” implies. The CAP’s advice to President Obama is that he treat Mexican illegal aliens with the same compassion they interpret from the NRS, and pass comprehensive immigration reform. But when we parse the words, it is clear that illegal aliens are not the “resident aliens” implied by CAP, but emboldened Mexicans, foreigners and strangers, who wish to take advantage of the lax rules and borders that makes it possible for them to enter and reside in the country with impunity.

One has to marvel at the President’s Seder chutzpah after his dismal treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu during his recent visit to the United States. It is one thing to celebrate an ethnic festival, but another to respect the significance that the celebrants give their rituals. The Israelites that Obama commemorates in these Seders were freed from bondage in Egypt, and their descendants later received their Promised Land. Yet, Obama seems intent on removing this sacred land from the Jews, and forcing on them new enemies who are probably far more ruthless than the Egyptians.

Modern Christians are in as much danger as modern Jews. Our liberal neighbors, with their feel-good, made-up Christianity are destroying our religion and our communities. Liberal church leaders support issues ranging from comprehensive immigration reform to same sex marriage. Atheists, who have nonetheless constructed their own religion, now have their prophets. In the April 2010 publication of Vanity Fair, atheist Christopher Hitchens performs an iconoclastic dismantling of the Biblical Ten Commandments and then gives us his own petty ten. Like the Old Testament’s Jews, we have to trust that God will free us from our current tribulations.

In fact, End Time preachers use the exodus as an allegory for our liberation. Our ultimate release is entry into God’s heavenly land. But the Passover and Easter stories are also our personal stories. The journey from bondage to freedom reflects our own mundane ordeals. And we experience death and resurrection with each sin and atonement. Celebrating these holidays each year gives us the hope that we too will inherit our particular Israel.

The liberal, politically correct television stations were right after all. The story of Moses, recounting a people’s freedom from slavery, and culminating with the abiding Ten Commandments, was an apt choice for these holidays. Would that our leaders understand and practice its significance. Not just as at religious celebrations, but throughout the year.

Nasty Gals Do It Better, But In a Pretty Way

Nasty Gal in Awesome Shredded Jeans

My yahoo email page spouts out ads which at the moment I can't be bother to block. The most recent said this:

"Nasty Gal," with a subheading "Awesome shredded jeans."

When I returned to the main page to click on the ad, it had changed to something else. I googled "Nasty Gal" (nothing else, and with no quotes) and the first link I found said:
Nasty Gal.com - Nasty Gals Do It Better
Under the website's "About" page, this is who the nasty gal is:
Who is a Nasty Gal? We like to think of her as the coolest girl in the room‚ pulling off whatever wildly unique piece that suits the mood. At Nasty Gal, we are our customer. Because of this, our job is an easy one: inspire and be inspired by cool girls the world over.
And who is the inspiration?
The name was inspired by the song and album “Nasty Gal.” Betty Davis [NOT Bette Davis, who another kind of gal who could run circles around this crude and crass one], the patron saint of badass women, was known for her unapologetically sexy funk music which comprises our vision of femininity - complete with lamé platform thigh-high boots.
And of course, the perennial disclaimer:
“Nasty Gal is inclusive, but also cool. A lot of companies make the mistake of being one or the other.” - Brett, Producer
Nasty Gal makes insipidly pretty clothes (my theory has always been that all girls want to look pretty, and all women want to look beautiful, except the rabidly angry ones like the singer). A name like "nasty" gets turned around to mean "cool" which is the quintessential claim to fitting in with the crowd these days. Nasty means cool, cool means fitting in, fitting in means looking pretty, since, as I wrote here in Camera Lucida, even sluts at Slut Walks want to look pretty.

Nasty Gals Trio: Betty Davis, Girl in the Ad, and the Real Bette Davis

Here is the quintessential pretty gal (via Mark Richardson's Oz Conservative blog), who has a website to showcase her pretty items. Well, it actually is all about her. Almost every post has a photo of her, in various poses of happiness at discovering all the pretty things around her which make her look so pretty. This is where it ends, the narcissistic desire of girl-women. The Aussie Pretty Gal is not really a gal. She looks like she is in her mid-thirties. Can't she find something serious to do, like start a charity, or better yet, have children?

Her poor husband pops up in some of her photos, but he's probably quite content to have a prancing girl-woman around without the responsibilities of raising a family. I bet she works too, and the reason why she acquires these relatively, cumulatively, expensive items for herself. (My intuition was right about this. Here's an interview where she talks about having a day job.) I tried to find the meaning of her blog's name Esme and the Laneway. Laneway is a British variation on Lane.

But Esme is more obscure (it's not her real name, which is Marianne). Wikipedia lists Esme Cullen as one of the vampires from the latest series of vampire books The Twilight Series. I've written before that young women these days have a fascination for vampires. This youth-worshiping Esme surely is into that as well. Her literary activity is limited, though. Her list of books are either beauty instructional ones (what else) or she uses books as accessories for her photos. So I doubt she's read the vampire books, but the culture now is so infused with vampirism, she must be aware of them.

Below are photos of Esme (Marianne). It looks like she has someone taking some of the photos  (the outdoor ones, for example), but she can make clever adjustments by shooting her reflection in a mirror.

Exhibitionism, that's what it all amounts to

Thirty-something year-old pretty gal who is almost middle-aged

The fact that her hsuband allows his wife to parade herself says a lot about modern men. He could rein her in, tell her to get a hobby like cooking, or decorating their house. Or, he could insist that they start a family.

But, perhaps it is for the best that children don't have a mother such as this. She would turn up to be one of those "artist" moms who photograph their children naked for all to see.

Shadows of Glamour at the Oscars

The Art Deco stage at the 2013 Oscars

I watched the whole Oscar's show last night. It wasn't for the movies, since the only one I've watched is Anna Karenina (which I blogged about here). I don't go to the movies anymore. We are made to watch violently ugly films in claustrophobic theaters with unbearably loud speakers. Movie going (even the popcorn) is an unpleasant experience.

I have read some articles and reviews on a few of these movies. Based on what I'd read, and the interviews I watched of the filmmaker and actors, here is what I wrote about Django Unchained, the (evil) film that Quentin Tarantino directed.

So why watch the Oscars? I find it fascinating that actresses who will act in sado-masochistic, nihilistic or (I should probably write "and" since these films usually encompass the whole gamut of ugliness) violent films want to still show up all glizted-up. As one actress said at the "red carpet" interview: "It's like dress-up."

But it is more than that. Some of the gowns I saw were reminiscent of the glamorous movie stars when Hollywood was at its filmmaking peak, which was also its glamorous peak. I think this era is from around the thirties to the mid-fifties. These 21st century actresses want to evoke that spirit: of beauty, of glamour, of style and of stardom. None qualify. I really cannot think of one actress who personifies any of these movie star qualities. Many are talented, but they cover up that talent with those horrible characters and roles they play. Of course, one can blame the real big-shots, the writers, directors, producers and the whole army behind a film. The actresses have no choice but to oblige, unless they want to sit at home without a job.

Before I go into fashion critique, here are a couple indications that Hollywood is trying to return to its glamorous image.

- The musical numbers were from old Broadway musicals, replete with men in tuxedos and women in ball gowns dancing elaborate stage productions.

- The funny, diminutive host, Seth MacFarlane, sang a couple of those songs in a very good voice. Here is MacFarlane's muscial background:
MacFarlane is a skilled pianist and singer who, in his early years, trained with Lee and Sally Sweetland, Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra's vocal coaches. In 2009, he appeared as a vocalist at the BBC Proms with the John Wilson Orchestra in Prom 22 A Celebration of Classic MGM Film Musicals.[69] In 2012, it was announced he would again appear at the Proms with the John Wilson Orchestra in a concert celebrating Broadway musicals.[70]
His day job is designing cartoons for TV shows, a skill he acquired after many years in art and design schools.

- The stage was designed in Art Deco, old Broadway style.

So what did these shadows of movie stars come up with, that showed me they really want to look beautiful and worthy of the noble Hollywood tradition?

Below are the styles of dresses that I saw. This is 21st century Hollywood, so the nihilistic, anti-beauty was fighting to get through.

1. Structured Black and Gold Art Deco Style Dresses
- Naomi Watts looks like a Rolls Royce figurine (see below)
- Nicole Kidman's dress was a less structured, but she looked pretty with her curly hair (but whose wispy style didn't really go with the formal dress).
- Halle Berry's front opened up almost down to her belly, but she (or her designers) covered the exposed area with additional material. (see below)
- Selma Hayek showed up in what looked like a medieval metal girdle, all the way up to her neck. She usually shows up with exposed breasts. She recently married a French business man, so he probably told her to shape up.
- Sandra Bullock tried with her lacy black gown. But the dress designers were too smart to go with pure, sheer lace, and put a "nude" - as the fashion commentators kept saying, but which really means skin-colored - slip underneath. It looked cheap and improvised.

The Most Like Art Deco:
Halle Berry Could have been a human form of an Art Deco building

2. Ball Gowns
- Jennifer Aniston in a coral/red Cinderella dress. But I wish she would return to her famous "Rachel Hair" from Friends. (see below)
- Amy Adams in a feathery grey (see below)
- Jennifer Lawrence wore a crumpled white gown. "Edgy" is how one commentator desribed it. Yes, an "edgy ball gown." Perfect fit for an "edgy" modern girl.

The Best of the Ball Gowns:

The Most Whimsical Ball Gown:

3. Gowns with Trails
- Zoe Saldana in variations of grey (see below)
- Jennifer Garner with a ruffled trail (see below)
- Reese Witherspoon in electric blue
- Helen Hunt in another one of those crumpled, "casual" looks. But she did make that horrible "sex" (read pornographic) movie, of which she is "very proud." What we do affects who we are, and who we become. How do these smart women not realize this?

Wave-like trail:
Zoe Saldana's beautiful gown with variations of grey and white. The belt was unnecessary though.

Trail with ruffles:

4. Gowns with Applique
- Kristen Stewart with applique leaves on chiffon. Even "vampire girls" want to look pretty.
- Ditto (in film and fashion choices) Amanda Seifried (see below)
- Catherine Zeta Jones trying too hard in gaudy gold (at least she's lost that fake American accent, although it's more chic to sound British these days).

Amanda Seyfried

5. Gowns with Jewels
- Jessica Chastain in a crystal-bedecked peach gown
- Kerri Washington in a coral gown with a beaded bust
- Jane Fonda in a canary yellow dress, with a wide belt of jewels. I don't know how Jane Fonda manages to look so young. It is probably a mixture of plastic surgery and her famous exercise routines. (see below)

6. Gowns in Silver or Gold
Renee Zellweger all in gold. But, she could have left out the clumsy bracelet.

And who was the Oscar fashions "designer" commentator? Vera Wang was video taped making commentary on the best dressed of Hollywood stars at the Oscars over the years. She showed up looking something like this (the video, for some reason, is not online).

Vera Wang

Georgian Champan, of the beautiful Marchesa line, was also making commentaries. What a contrast from the aggressive Wang.
